2008 Narratives

Set amongst green fields that slope down toward the Sakonnet River, shingle styled  Eastwell House’s amazing kitchen lives easy, is filled with updated traditional details and is a cook’s kitchen to boot – the owner’s wife is a professional chef!  Newly constructed, this cleanly designed and elegantly appointed New England kitchen is every cook’s dream.
This traditional dark shingle styled beach home has it’s kitchen directly overlooking  the Sakonnet River.  A fieldstone two story fireplace divides the kitchen and family living space, giving the illusion of separate spaces yet the space flows easily.  The white Nantucket styled cabinets are accented by beadboard with black absolute granite counters anchoring the look.

This home is the builder’s own dream home.  The kitchen – dining – family room runs the length of the house making this a perfect family gathering space as well as a great place to gather for parties and with friends.  The cabinetry is diverse and highly efficient including plate racks, open shelves, a built in for the Meile coffee-espresso system with a mixture of glass paned doors and solid ones.

A renovation, this kitchen family living space is traditional, yet filled with modern amenities and very clever space planning.    The kitchen has floor to ceiling cabinets in white while the island is crafted in Cherry. Plenty of sit down seating is provided in two different pull up areas on the island and then an exterior counter. The kitchen opens in directly to a wonderful spacious living space with a fireplace and a proper mirror back bar.  An adjacent wall is all French doors overlooking Narragansett Bay.

When you walk into this kitchen, it yells, “fun families only.”   The island can seat 8 people comfortably, while the proper kitchen area can have two cooks working together without a problem.  A hutch wall has a wine cooler, ice maker and beer refrigerator. The next room over is the pool table room, a bank of windows and doors lead onto a great deck that sits high over the Sakonnet River.

This kitchen was a renovation geared toward family living. There are tons of ideas in space saving in this efficient kitchen.  The custom cabinets are butter glaze on maple with two contrasting mahogany stained wall cabinets which reminded the homeowner of traditional glass cabinets from her childhood.
